Stop Attacking Social Security!

From Bob Herbert:

When you see surveillance videos of some creep mugging an elderly person in an elevator or apartment lobby, the universal reaction is outrage. But when the fat cats and the ideologues want to hack away at the lifeline of Social Security, they are treated somehow as respectable, even enlightened members of the society.

We need a reality check. Attacking Social Security is both cruel and unnecessary. It needs to stop.

What is completely disgusting and irresponsible is that those who advocate for cutting government spending by gutting Social Security, or other support for the less than wealthy, is they never say what should be done with the resulting bodies.  Leave them in rat-infested buildings?  Let them die of cold?  Do they really think that families and churches can, and should, be responsible for all who do not have enough for their daily bread, even those who put enough aside but then saw a pension collapse because of financial malfeasance?  Even the crippled in mind or body? They don’t think such things through; they think God will provide; they know no one who makes less than 100k a years….

Words for Acts

It is impudent in the extreme for this man to go around Europe haranguing people on their duties to civilization when his own country presents one of the most lawless aspects of modern life the whole world affords.
