Welcome Last Words

Filed under: FrontPage — by Bob Meyer @ 9:12 am

The speculation as to whether Bill Kristol will continue his career as a New York Times columnist can end. Buried at the end of his column Monday is this announcement:

This is William Kristol’s last column.

He had said he was “ambivalent” about staying on as a columnist there. Funny, I wasn’t ambivalent. Were you ambivalent?

What I objected to about Kristol was not that he was conservative but that his columns constantly spewed forth right-wing ideology without any concern for substantiation. His ex cathedra pronouncements were never backed up by an appeal to facts or logic, and he never, ever, admitted to being wrong, which he almost always was. Even David Brooks occasionally feels the need for reasoned argumentation.

Of course we have to throttle the cheers until we see who replaces him… Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly..(probably can’t write.)
