Paid for by John Disgusting McCain

Having apparently decided that the hole isn’t nearly deep enough yet (which is to say: they haven’t struck oil, but they do seem have located a big fat gushing sewer main), the Republicans seem doggedly determined to keep digging.

This new ad from the McCain campaign offends on so many different levels that it’s hard to know where to begin.

Campaign for America’s Future

You watch, McCain’s crew will say ‘What’s the problem? Don’t you get the satire?” [Update below.] While meanwhile, they keep blowing on the dogwhistle that the extreme fundamentalists can hear and respond to: Obama is the anti-christ!

Then, see what the paragon of leadership is doing on the stage while Ringin’ Wet and Wild is wrestling nearby.

Update: As predicted: “John McCain just held a presser in Florida. … Described a new Web ad implying that Obama believes he’s the Messiah as “having some fun.”"

  1. Jack Kaplan:

“…and threatening that Americans shouldn’t vote for the more competent candidate because the Big Bad He-God In The Sky will bring on the Rapture if we do…”
    Sara Robinson quote.

I thought these extreme fundamentalists wanted to bring on the Rapture and therefore would want to vote for God’s plan to bring on the Rapture through whatever agent they perceived would get the job done. Is this illogical to vote then for McCain to fight God’s planned Rapture? I know this is about identity politics, but still there needs to be some method to their madness. All I could figure out is that since God is going to have the rapture in his own good time, the fundamentalists will let the bad people vote for the devil, while the good fundamentalists vote against the devil and assure a better place in line for the Rapture.
