Misrepresenting Pat Tillman

Filed under: Critical Voices | FrontPage | War | Afghanistan — by Bob Zuber @ 1:50 am

The official deception around the death of Pat Tillman has deeply offended he editors of the Denver Post, including its cartoonist Mike Keefe: “The wartime heroism of Army Ranger Pat Tillman and Pfc. Jessica Lynch made for riveting stories. He died in a fierce firefight with the enemy. She was captured after raining shots on her attackers.

The military took great pains to propagate these yarns. The trouble is, as a disgusted nation heard in detail this week, the stories weren’t true. Congressional hearings have exposed two abhorrent examples of how Defense Department officials spun tragic events into public relations boons.”

In Dante’s Hell those guilty of the sin of cupidity are in the ninth circle, frozen in the Lake of Ice. Having cared for nothing but self in life, they are encased in icy Self for eternity. By making people focus only on oneself in this way, Satan and his followers turn their eyes away from the harmony of love that unites all creatures.
