Drought in 60% of US

There is no climate change. Energy use has nothing to do with it. Move everyone to Phoenix and Las Vegas and everything will be fine. [The Bush Administration: Three clowns short of a Circus.]

More than 60 percent of the United States now has abnormally dry or drought conditions, stretching from Georgia to Arizona and across the north through the Dakotas, Minnesota, Montana and Wisconsin, said Mark Svoboda, a climatologist for the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

An area stretching from south central North Dakota to central South Dakota is the most drought-stricken region in the nation, Svoboda said.

“It’s the epicenter,” he said. “It’s just like a wasteland in north central South Dakota.”

Meanwhile, citizens who have half a brain are examining their carbon foot print, demanding that their local governments make energy audits, and raising holy hell with politicians and industrialists alike. Maybe we should start a collection to send the children of Big Oil to school in South Dakota. They could live in double wides with no air conditioning ….
