The Bush Administration: Condi Catches Flack in the UK
Writing in the Guardian, local writer Wayne Hemingway welcomes Condi to his hometown of Blackburn: “She wasn’t impressed with our Lancashire weather - but then some of the locals weren’t that impressed with her. Yesterday, she visited Pleckgate high school, where she had to go in a side entrance to avoid angry Stop the War demonstrators shouting “Condoleezza Rice go home”. My memories of the school aren’t friendly either. The Pleckgate crew used to come across Corporation Park at lunchtime to challenge my mates and me at the Queen Elizabeth grammar, where they’d stand looking tough with knuckledusters and chains.”
