The DeLay Indictment: Leaking Republican Support

Filed under: Critical Voices | FrontPage | Corruption — by Bob Zuber @ 5:34 am

Writing in the Baltimore Sun (Reg. Required), Paul West attempts a ‘Monday morning assessment’ of the latest scandal to hit the republicans: “Whether Republicans suffer serious long-term damage may depend largely on the ability of Democrats to capitalize on the latest blow to the party in command on Capitol Hill. So far, Democrats have shown little, if any, ability to take advantage of the opportunities presented by Bush’s summer-long erosion in popularity and rising anger at high gas prices…..

“Democrats are leaving a lot of votes on the table,” concluded Greenberg and Carville. Their poll found that support for Democrats in next year’s congressional elections stands at 48 percent in their survey - the same share of the vote the Democrats got in 2004.”

In Dante’s Hell those guilty of the sin of cupidity are in the ninth circle, frozen in the Lake of Ice. Having cared for nothing but self in life, they are encased in icy Self for eternity. By making people focus only on oneself in this way, Satan and his followers turn their eyes away from the harmony of love that unites all creatures.
