Governor Brown’s Inauguration: A Local Report

We were there!
Many of us, old Brown friends from the past administration made our way up to Sacto for the festivities. I am so happy we made the effort. The feeling of the place and Jerry’s presence just doesn’t come across in the written transcripts….

First Jerry seemed to be everywhere making contact with old friends and administration associates, a task he never liked before. There is a New and Better Jerry Brown, who leads more from the heart while keeping his sharp mind pointed straight at you…..and those beadie eyes piercing you for reaction.

His inaugural speech was beautifully set by his story of his great grandfathers epic trip from Germany to America and finally the family landing in California. Jerry is finally taking pride and comfort in his Californian tradition and it makes him rooted and focused. NO MORE MR. MoonBeam. I mean no one is using that stupid image anymore. The only beaming is the love that is coming through his wife Anne, and warming everyone around. Jerry has what he needs this time to focus and create the transparent government he pictures.

Do I sound like a fan??? Yep, he is the best politician out there, with no ego to fan, and insight stretching back to his Jesuit days.  He has come of age! And, we will benefit from his growth. He has a impossible budget to create, and a recession to buck, but he will do it with honesty…more than we’ve seen from any politician in the last years. My hopes are up for California to set the standard.

California, Here he comes…

Michael Krasney’s Forum on KQED this morning was buzzing with similar comments — from Half Moon Bay to San Diego. Many of them saying what they hoped for most of all was an end to the smoke and mirrors, and some straight talk so that real decisions can be made. Folks could get a podcast from the station if they’re interested.

Words for Acts

The least pain in our little finger gives us more concern and uneasiness than the destruction of millions of our fellow-beings.
