House Gives Up on Tax Bill: Approves it 277-148
The House voted 277-148 to pass a tax deal that will extend Bush-era tax cuts by two years and unemployment benefits for 13 months, preventing an income tax increase on Jan. 1. The bill will now go to the president for a signature.

I heard on an am cable show that the White House was in charge of the whip count for this bill. The first time this has happened during Obama’s presidency.
